Current USCG 50 Ton Master, Commercial Tow and Near Coastal Endorsement Licenses. First Aid / CPR Certified. TWIC Card certified. In the 26 years of my boating experience, I’ve spent the bulk of my time operating in the waters off Southern California from the Channel Islands down to Northern Baja including all the Offshore Islands especially Catalina.

I am a non-smoking, fun, honest and knowledgeable Captain with a passion of the sea like no other. As proof of this my son’s middle name is “ Marlin.” My number one priority is the safety of my passengers and will always take care of the vessel as it was my own. I am available for all aspects of "Personal Instruction" with your new vessel. My professional services always provide a fun and great learning experience for all involved. I have been involved in many different fishing tournaments in the past years ranging from major marlin tournaments such as the Lahaina Jackpot Tournament in Maui, Hawaii, to the local halibut derbies here in Southern California. I have acted as main angler to head captain. I truly love just being out on the ocean and enjoying all it has to offer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Recommendations and references provided upon request.

I have been boating for 55 years and learned to be a master power boat handler at a very young age. After school I was engaged in almost every aspect of the marine industry. In 2001 I decided to become a licensed Master Captain of 100 Gross Tons. Word spread quickly through the marine industry and I have been helping many local dealers with new boat orientations, lessons, local and long distance deliveries. I have navigated the waters from Cancun to Maine. I've had one full time position on a 65'Offshore motor yacht touring the east coast for 15 months and I just finished a 5 year agreement on a 84' Princess Viking. I love what I do and always look forward to helping and meeting new people in the boating world. I have many commercial and private references. I always try to keep boating fun and safe. Fully insured with no claims in my career.

Hi there, my name is Jim Ellinor and I have been around the boating industry since childhood. I am a U.S.C.G. 100 ton Master Captain, with a commercial towing endorsement and I am a current member of the Drug Consortium (random drug testing). I have extensive experience on a variety of boats from small run-a-bouts to 110' offshore supply vessels.

The geographical areas I have piloted include most of the Bahamas, Florida Keys, Gulf of Mexico, all of the State of Florida to New York City and north to Toronto and northern Canada. I have also cruised most of the Caribbean Sea to include Cuba, Puerto Rico, Grenada and Columbia.

I am a certified scuba Master Diver with many other certifications. I also have a great deal of experience with ship systems and maintenance issues encompassing both gas and diesel. I am retired as a law enforcement professional with over 35 years experience to include S.W.A.T, K-9, Dive Team, Equestrian and Marine Patrol.

I have never had any type of maritime incident and take this responsibility very seriously. I am currently the captain of a 74’ Hatteras motor yacht. I manage all aspects of maintaining this vessel. I have been on this yacht for almost 10 years. during that time we have traveled all over the eastern sea board, to include the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, Mississippi River to Alto Illinois and south to New Orleans, west to Houston. The east coast of the United States from Florida to Bar Harbor Maine and most everything in between.I still do some delivery work along with vessel maintenance for local customers.I previously was captain of a 90' 129 ton lunch and dinner charter vessel as well as a 2002 565 Carver motor yacht that I maintained and operated for a corporation.

I love all boats and treat them as if they were my own. I have a strong work ethic, easy-going personality, positive attitude, and would love to teach anyone willing to learn about boating and all it has to offer.

I have many happy customers whom I have delivered for, instructed, and captained to various destinations. My detailed resume and references along with my license and credentials are available upon request. I look forward to seeing you on-board.

Semi-Retired Captain Seeks Free-Lance Positions

I seek boat owners with “power” vessels sized 50 ft. to 100 ft. that are interested in hiring me on a “Free Lance” basis as captain for three (3) to fourteen (14) trips cruising, fishing, or diving throughout south Florida, Bahamas, and the Caribbean. I possess “full charge” competency and value the responsibilities of being in command. Boat owners, guests, and charter parties quickly recognize my professionalism in planning, provisioning, every day operation, and proficiency in making repairs, resourcefulness, and general vessel management.

I have held a U.S. Coast Guard Master 100 Ton license for over 35 years and have been captain on “power” vessels in size up to 85 ft. During my career, as yacht captain, I have cruised throughout the east coast of Florida to Key West and most of the Bahamas. I do not smoke and rarely inbib in alcohol.

I am an avid PADI certified scuba diver and have exposed many boat owners and guests to divingwith snorkel, and third lung to catch lobsters and shoot fish with an Hawaiian Sling. I consider myself to be presentable in appearance and personal dress/hygiene, sufficiently educated (MBA in Management) and well-rounded to carry conversation, coupled with a sense of humor to entertain. I look forward to demonstrating my knowledge, skills, and abilities as your captain.

I am a successful sport fishing captain catching pelagic and bottom fish, deep water electric reel fishing for golden tilefish, yellow-eye snapper, queen snappers, assorted groupers, and can site and catch bonefish. Some of the most enjoyable fishing may be with light tackle utilizing chum to attract bottom fish including yellowtail, various snappers and groupers.
